19 GARs have settled in Surrey since Jan 2015.

According to ISSofBC, 135 Government Assisted Refugees (GARs), or 66 family units, have arrived to British Columbia since January 2015. Eighteen individuals have moved from another province and 117 came from other countries. The majoirty of all GARs who arrived in this period came from Iran and Iraq (over 80%) and near quarter of refugees have settled in Tri-Cities. Fourteen per cent or 19 individuals have settled in Surrey. 

It is expected that over 800 GARs will settle in British Columbia with 80% of GARs expecting to arrive from the Middle East region.
